Blog Premiere

I finally have a blog again. The future's so bright I gotta wear shades. 8)

I launched an early version of this little website a few months back. From the beginning the plan was to have a blog attached to it, and while I did hammer out a rudimentary blog engine from the start, that needed a lot more work so I put it on hold. That is, until last week.

I found a job ad where they requested verifiable work samples of sites and/or systems I've built. When I started thinking about it I realized that most of what I've built is no longer available online. Or it has changed a lot since I worked on it.. So I desperately needed something I could show off. One idea is that I make some of the assignements from the university courses available here - but the problem with that is two-fold:

  1. Many of them are still used as assignments so putting them up here might in some cases give students a possibility to cheat.
  2. In most cases there have only been enough time te meet the requirements of the particular assignment. This means they often look like crap, behave a bit shoddy or isn't really usable in a practical sense. Often it's a combination of all three factors.

As for the rest of my site, it is too simple - a couple of javascripts and usage of external libraries for some graphical effects are not much to write home about. So I went back to my rudimentary blog engine and decided to try and finish it and incorporate it into my site. You are looking at version 1.0 right now, and the plan is to make a tutorial out of this particular little developer's journey. At the very least, share some of the problems and solutions I stumbled upon while coding it. Just not sure when that'll be, but it's in the pipeline along with a whole lot of other ideas I want to tutorialize as well.
